Terraces, Villas and Flats by the Front
Waterloo is full of Victorian housing, from rows of terraces off South Road to big three-storey houses near the seafront, many of them now split into flats. That means tall staircases, narrow landings and shared front doors, and in summer the roads nearer the beach get busy with parked cars.
We cover Waterloo regularly from our Liverpool base on Smithdown Road. We take beds, wardrobes and tables apart so they come down tight stairs safely, protect your things in the van and rebuild them at the new place, whether that’s round the corner or the other end of the country.
- Upper-floor flat moves in converted Victorian houses
- Fully insured while your things are in our care
- Open 7 days, 8am to 9pm

Waterloo Move Questions
Do you cover all of Waterloo?
Yes, we cover all of Waterloo and the whole L22 postcode, so wherever you live in the area we can help. That runs from South Road and the streets around Waterloo station to St John’s Road, Crosby Road North, Potters Barn Park and the Victorian terraces and villas near the seafront.
We also cover the places right next door, including Seaforth, Blundellsands, Crosby and Litherland, so a move from one side of the A565 to the other is no problem. Most of our Waterloo jobs are house and flat moves, but we also do single items, Marketplace pickups, packing and furniture removal.
Whatever the job, we plan it the same way. We look at the type of property, the stairs, the parking and what is going, then agree a clear price before you book. If you are unsure whether your street is covered, send us your postcode on WhatsApp and we will confirm straight away. You can also see every place we serve on our areas we cover page.
Can you move flats in Waterloo’s big Victorian houses?
Yes, we move flats in Waterloo’s converted Victorian houses regularly, including top-floor flats with steep shared stairs and no lift. Many of the larger houses near the front have been split into flats, and they tend to have tall staircases, narrow landings and shared front doors.
That means planning matters. When you ask for a quote, choose ‘Stairs, no lift’ on the form and tell us which floor you are on. We take beds, wardrobes and tables apart where needed so they come down safely without scraping walls or banisters, then rebuild them at your new place. If there is a tight turn on the stairs or a low ceiling, a quick photo helps us plan.
It is also worth letting your neighbours know the date, as shared hallways can get busy while we carry. Our flat moves page explains how a typical flat move works, and if you are a student renting a room, our student moves service may suit you better.
Do you do single items and Marketplace pickups in Waterloo?
Yes, we collect single items and Marketplace buys across Waterloo, from a sofa off South Road to a table from a house by the beach. It is one of the quickest jobs to book and a good option if you do not need a full move.
Common pickups include sofas, wardrobes, beds, fridge freezers and dining sets. Before you agree a sale, check the item will fit through your door and up your stairs, which matters in Waterloo’s older houses and upstairs flats. Ask the seller whether it is on the ground floor and whether it comes apart. If it needs dismantling, we can do that when we collect and rebuild it at your end.
To get a price, send us the listing link or a photo plus both postcodes on WhatsApp. We usually reply within the hour, and prices start from £50, agreed before we set off. See our Marketplace collections page for how it works, or our single item delivery service for other one-off jobs.
How far are you from Waterloo?
Not far at all. We are based on Smithdown Road in Liverpool 7 and cover Waterloo regularly, usually coming up the A565 through Bootle, so it is a normal local job for us rather than a long trip.
Because Waterloo is close, short notice is often possible, but we still recommend booking two or more days ahead, especially for weekends and the end of the month when lots of people move. We are open seven days a week, 8am to 9pm, which gives you plenty of choice over when we arrive.
Being local also helps with moves within Sefton. A lot of our Waterloo customers are moving a short distance, to Crosby, Seaforth or Litherland, or into Liverpool city centre. Others are heading further afield. Wherever you are going, travel is built into the clear price we agree before you book. Send us photos and both postcodes on WhatsApp and we will come back with a figure, or read more on our house moves page.
Is parking a problem near Waterloo seafront?
It can be, especially on sunny weekends when people head to the beach and the roads nearer the front fill up with parked cars. Many of the terraces off South Road also have on-street parking only, with cars on both sides.
A bit of planning sorts most of it out. When you book, tell us your street, house number and moving date. If you know of any quirks, such as a spot that is usually free first thing or a side street that is easier to load from, mention those too. We will plan where to stop and load before the day, and if the roads are likely to be busy, we may suggest an earlier start. Moving your own car the night before to leave a space can make a real difference.
Older Waterloo houses often have long front paths or steps up to the door, so let us know about those as well. If you are moving from a flat, our flat moves page covers how we handle stairs and shared hallways.
Can you move us from Waterloo to somewhere further away?
Yes, we move people from Waterloo to anywhere in the UK, as well as across Liverpool and Sefton. Whether you are heading to the other side of the country or just over to Litherland, we plan the day around the distance and what is going.
For local moves, we can usually load, drive and unload well within the day. For longer trips, we look at the distance, the time of day and how much you have, so you know roughly when to expect us at the other end. Tell us both addresses, any stairs or lifts at each end, and any large or fragile items when you ask for a quote.
Long distance moves start from £200, with a clear price agreed before you book. Your belongings are fully insured while they are in our care for the whole journey, and we take furniture apart and rebuild it at your new home. To find out more, have a look at our long distance removals page, or send us the details on WhatsApp and we usually reply within the hour.
Do you take furniture apart and put it back together?
Yes, we take furniture apart and put it back together as part of every job, not as an extra you have to ask for. Beds, wardrobes, tables and anything else that will not fit through a door or down the stairs gets dismantled, wrapped and rebuilt at your new place.
This is especially useful in Waterloo, where many homes are tall Victorian houses or converted flats with narrow landings, steep stairs and tight turns. Taking furniture apart protects it, protects the walls and banisters on the way out, and helps us use the space in the van well.
To help us plan, tell us about any big or awkward items when you ask for a quote, such as a large wardrobe, a corner sofa or a storage bed. A photo is ideal. If you take anything apart yourself, keep the screws and fixings in a labelled bag taped to the item. If there is furniture you are not taking with you, our furniture removal service can take it away, as long as it is furniture or household items rather than general waste.
Can you pack for us?
Yes, we can pack for you, with full packing, where we pack the whole home, or partial packing, where we just do the fragile or awkward things. You choose whichever suits your time and budget.
Full packing works well for bigger Victorian houses near the front, where there are often several floors and a lot to get through. Partial packing suits people who are happy to box up clothes and books themselves but would rather leave glassware, mirrors, pictures and kitchen items to us. Either way, everything is wrapped and loaded so it travels safely, whether you are moving round the corner or across the country.
When you ask for a quote, tell us which option you want and roughly how many rooms are involved. Photos of cupboards, shelves and delicate items help us get the price right. If you are packing some things yourself, label each box with the room it is going to, which makes unloading much faster. Packing can be added to any of our removal services, including house moves.
Are my things insured during the move?
Yes, your belongings are fully insured while they are in our care, from loading in Waterloo to unloading at your new home. That covers the carry out, the drive and the carry in.
Insurance gives you peace of mind, but careful handling is what really keeps things safe. We wrap furniture, take apart bulky items where needed and load the van so nothing moves about on the journey. In Waterloo’s older houses and upstairs flats, that also means planning how to bring things down tall staircases without knocks. If you have anything especially valuable or fragile, such as a large mirror, artwork or an antique, tell us when you ask for a quote so we can plan how to pack and carry it.
On the day, keep jewellery, important documents and anything sentimental with you. For full details of how we deal with damage, cancellations and items we cannot carry, please read our terms and conditions. If you have any questions before booking, you can contact us and we will talk you through it.
How much does a Waterloo move cost and how do I book?
Prices start from £50, and long distance moves from £200, with a clear price agreed before you book, so you know exactly what you are paying. The final figure depends on how much is going, the stairs and access at each end, the distance, and whether you need packing.
To book, send photos of what is moving and both postcodes on WhatsApp at 07552 999 177, or call 0151 272 3467. We usually reply within the hour and are open seven days a week, 8am to 9pm. You can also use the quote form at the top of this page, which opens WhatsApp with your details already filled in. Useful details include the number of bedrooms, which floor you are on, any large items and your preferred date.
We recommend booking two or more days ahead, but short notice is often possible because Waterloo is close to our base. If you would rather talk it through first, visit our contact page, or browse all our services to see what we can help with.
