Questions People Ask
What furniture do you take away?
We take away old, unwanted or broken household furniture, including sofas, armchairs, beds, mattresses, wardrobes, chests of drawers, tables and chairs. It can be a single piece or a room’s worth, from any room in the house, including upstairs.
Other household items, such as bookcases, desks, office chairs and dining sets, are usually fine too. If you’re not sure about something, send us a photo on WhatsApp at 07552 999 177 and we’ll tell you straight away. The service covers furniture and household items only, so bagged rubbish, garden waste and builders’ waste aren’t included. Prices start from £50, and we agree a clear price before you book.
If you’re replacing a piece rather than just getting rid of it, we can collect your new item through our single item delivery service and take the old one away on the same trip. Our terms and conditions list anything we can’t carry, so check there if you’re unsure.
Do you take general rubbish or garden waste?
No, we don’t take general rubbish, garden waste or builders’ waste, as this service covers furniture and household items only. That means bags of household rubbish, soil, green waste, rubble, plasterboard and similar materials need to go through the council or a dedicated waste removal company.
What we can take is the furniture itself: sofas, beds, mattresses, wardrobes, tables, chairs and other household pieces. If you’re clearing a room and have a mix of both, it helps to separate the furniture from the rubbish before we arrive so we can load quickly and you know exactly what’s going. Send us photos of what needs to go and we’ll confirm what we can take before you book.
If you’re moving house at the same time, we can take unwanted furniture alongside the rest of your house move. Our terms explain the items we can’t carry, so check there if you’re unsure about an item.
Can you take old furniture away when you deliver new furniture?
Yes, we can drop off your new furniture and take the old piece away on the same trip, so you only need to book one job. This is popular when someone buys a new sofa, bed or wardrobe and has nowhere to put the old one while they wait for a collection.
Mention it when you ask for a quote and tell us where the new item is coming from. If it’s flat-pack, we can carry it in, and if the old piece needs taking apart to get out of the room, we’ll do that first so it comes out without marking your walls. Send photos of both items, the collection postcode and your own postcode, and we’ll agree a clear price before you book.
Bought something second-hand? Our Marketplace collections work the same way, and we can bring the new piece and take away the old one in one visit. For shop or warehouse pickups, see our single item deliveries.
Do I need to bring it outside?
No, you don’t need to bring anything outside, as we carry the furniture out of your home for you, including from upstairs rooms and flats. Just show us what’s going when we arrive and we’ll take it from there.
Before we arrive, clear a path from the room to the front door and empty drawers, wardrobes and cupboards so they’re lighter and safer to carry. If an item is too big to fit through a doorway or round a tight landing, we’ll take it apart first rather than force it. Tell us which floor the furniture is on and whether there’s a lift when you ask for a quote, as stairs affect how long the job takes.
Living in a flat? Our flat moves page explains how we handle stairwells and lifts. We cover the whole city and Merseyside, which you can check on our areas we cover page, and prices start from £50.
How much does furniture removal cost?
Furniture removal starts from £50, and the final price depends on how many items there are, how big they are and access such as stairs. A single armchair from a ground-floor room costs less than a three-piece suite, a wardrobe and a double bed coming down from upstairs.
Other things that can affect the price are whether furniture needs taking apart, how far we have to carry it to the van and whether we’re doing anything else on the same trip. Send us photos of each item and your postcode, and we’ll agree a clear price before you book. That way you know the cost before we arrive.
If you’re also moving home, you can add furniture removal to your house move quote so it’s all done in one visit. Call 0151 272 3467, message us on WhatsApp at 07552 999 177 or contact us here, and we usually reply within the hour.
Can you take apart a wardrobe or bed that won’t fit through the door?
Yes, if a wardrobe, bed frame or table won’t come out in one piece, we take it apart first so it comes out without damaging your walls or doorframes. Large wardrobes, divan bases, bunk beds and extending dining tables often need this, especially in older houses with narrow stairs and tight landings.
Empty wardrobes and drawers before we arrive and let us know if anything is fixed to the wall, as screwed-down units may need checking first. We take the furniture apart on the spot and carry the pieces out carefully, protecting banisters and door frames as we go. Tell us about any large items in your quote request so we can allow time for it.
We do the same on our student moves and flat moves, where beds and wardrobes often have to come down narrow stairs. In the older terraced streets around Smithdown, where we’re based, it’s a regular part of the job.
Can you clear furniture from a whole room?
Yes, we can clear a whole room of furniture and household items, from a spare bedroom full of old pieces to a full lounge or dining room. Many people book us when they’re redecorating, downsizing or getting a room ready for a new use.
To price a room clearance properly, send us photos of everything that needs to go, ideally from a couple of angles, plus your postcode and which floor the room is on. Separate anything you’re keeping so there’s no confusion on the day. Remember we take furniture and household items only, so bagged rubbish and general waste need to be cleared separately. We agree a clear price before you book.
If you’re clearing more than one room because you’re moving out, it may make sense to combine it with your move. Our flat move service and full list of services cover what else we can do on the same day.
Can you clear furniture from a rented flat at the end of a tenancy?
Yes, tenants and landlords book us to take away unwanted furniture before handing back the keys at the end of a tenancy. It’s a common job in areas with lots of rented flats and house shares, where furniture is often left behind by previous tenants.
Tell us which floor the flat is on, whether there’s a lift, and where we can park nearby. If the landlord’s furniture is staying, mark clearly what’s going so nothing is taken by mistake. If the tenant has already moved out, let us know who will meet us to give access. Book early near the end of the month, when lots of tenancies finish at once.
Students leaving shared houses often book our student moves and a furniture clearance together. We cover rented flats all over the city, including Kensington and the city centre. Send us photos of what needs to go and we’ll agree a clear price before you book, usually replying within the hour.
How quickly can you collect my old furniture?
We recommend booking at least two days ahead, but short-notice furniture collections are often possible if we have a free slot. The quickest way to find out is to message us with photos of what needs to go.
Send the photos, your postcode and which floor the items are on to WhatsApp at 07552 999 177, or call 0151 272 3467. We usually reply within the hour and will tell you the earliest slot we have. Weekends and the end of the month tend to book up first, so a flexible date helps. We work 8am to 9pm, seven days a week, which gives more options for fitting you in.
Being based on Smithdown Road means we can reach nearby areas such as Wavertree quickly. You can also contact us through the website. Prices start from £50, and we agree a clear price before you book, so you know the cost before we arrive.
What times can you come out?
We work Monday to Sunday, 8am to 9pm, so you can book a furniture collection in the evening or at the weekend as well as during the day. That helps if you work during the week or want the old furniture gone before a new delivery arrives.
When you ask for a quote, tell us the times that suit you and whether anyone needs to be there to let us in. If the furniture is in a flat with restricted access times or a concierge, let us know so we can plan around it. We’ll confirm an arrival time before the day, and we recommend booking at least two days ahead, though short notice is often possible.
Evening and weekend slots work for our Marketplace pickups too. We cover every part of the city, from Aigburth in the south to the north of Liverpool and beyond, so message us with photos and your postcode to get started.
