Moving Homes in Liverpool 8

Toxteth has a real mix of homes. There are grand Victorian houses along Princes Avenue and around Princes Park, many now split into flats with long shared staircases, rows of terraces in Granby and the streets off Lodge Lane, and newer houses and flats towards the Dingle and the streets near Liverpool Cathedral. Big houses mean big stairs, and terraces mean tight hallways and busy kerbs.

Lodge Lane runs straight off Smithdown Road, so Toxteth is a short drive from our base. We plan the carry before we arrive, take apart anything that will not fit through a door or round a landing, and rebuild it at your new place, whether that is the next street or the other end of the UK.

FAQs

Questions People Ask

Do you cover all of Toxteth?

Yes, we cover all of Toxteth in L8, including Princes Avenue and Princes Boulevard, Princes Park, Granby, Lodge Lane, the streets around Liverpool Cathedral and down to the Dingle.

That takes in the big Victorian houses split into flats, the rows of terraces in Granby and off Lodge Lane, and the newer houses and flats towards the Dingle and Park Road. We also work in the areas right next door, such as the Georgian Quarter, Sefton Park and Aigburth, so short moves across south Liverpool are a big part of what we do.

Whether it is a full house, a top-floor flat or a single sofa, we can help. We are open Monday to Sunday, 8am to 9pm, and have done more than 300 moves. If you want to check your street, send your postcode on WhatsApp at 07552 999 177 and we usually reply within the hour. You can see every other place we work on our areas we cover page.

Can you move us out of a flat in one of the big houses on Princes Avenue?

Yes, we regularly move people out of flats in the large Victorian houses around Princes Avenue and Princes Park, many of which have long shared staircases.

Upper-floor flats in these houses take a bit more planning than a ground-floor move. Tell us which floor you are on, whether there is a lift, and roughly how far it is from your front door to the street. That way we bring enough hands, plan the order we carry things down, and allow the right amount of time. Bigger pieces like beds, wardrobes and corner sofas are taken apart so they can come down the stairs without marking the walls or banisters, then rebuilt at your new place.

It also helps to let other people in the building know when the move is happening, so the stairs and hallway are clear. Our flat moves service is set up for exactly this kind of job. Send photos and both postcodes on WhatsApp at 07552 999 177, or call 0151 272 3467, and we will agree a clear price before you book. If you are moving out of a whole house instead, see our house moves page.

How far are you from Toxteth?

Not far at all: our base on Smithdown Road is a short drive from Toxteth, and Lodge Lane runs straight off Smithdown Road, so we are in L8 most weeks.

Being this close makes a real difference. We can often fit in short notice jobs, quick collections and same-day pickups that would be harder for a company coming from further away. It also means we know the streets well, from the busy kerbs on Lodge Lane and Park Road to the quieter roads around Princes Park, so we can plan parking and access before we turn up.

Because we are next door, many of our Toxteth jobs are local moves to places like Smithdown, Wavertree or the city centre. We also move people from L8 to anywhere in the UK, and long distance moves start from £200. Prices for local jobs start from £50, with a clear price agreed before you book. We are open seven days a week, 8am to 9pm. Message us on WhatsApp at 07552 999 177 or use our contact page and we usually reply within the hour.

Is parking difficult on the terraced streets in Granby and off Lodge Lane?

It can be, because most of the terraces in Granby and off Lodge Lane have on-street parking only, often with cars parked on both sides.

That is why we plan where to stop and load before the day. Tell us your street when you book, and if you can, send a photo of the front of the house and the road outside. If spaces are usually tight, it helps to ask neighbours to keep a gap free outside your door, or to park your own car there the night before to hold the spot. The shorter the carry from your front door to the van, the quicker and safer the move.

Terraced houses in L8 also tend to have narrow hallways and steep stairs, so we take apart beds and wardrobes where needed and rebuild them at the other end. If you are only moving a few things, our single item delivery service is often the easiest option. For a full home, see our house removals. Message us on WhatsApp at 07552 999 177 and we will work out the best plan for your street.

Can you get a big sofa or wardrobe out of a narrow terraced house?

Usually, yes: we take apart beds, wardrobes and anything else that will not fit through a door or round a landing, then rebuild it at your new place.

Most big furniture comes apart in some way. Wardrobes, bed frames, tables and many sofas can be partly taken down, and some sofas lose their feet or arms to get through a tight doorway. We wrap each piece so nothing gets scratched, carry it out carefully and put it back together in the right room once it is in. This is part of the job, not an extra you need to ask for.

The best thing you can do is send us a photo of the item and, if possible, the hallway or stairs it needs to come down. That lets us tell you what to expect and bring the right tools. If something looks too big for the space, we can talk through the options before the day. If you are replacing it rather than moving it, our furniture removal service can take the old one away. For more on full moves, see our services page.

Do you do student moves around Toxteth?

Yes, we do student moves across Toxteth, where a lot of students live in the flats and shared houses in L8, close to the city centre and the universities.

We move rooms and flats at the start and end of term, from a few boxes and a desk to a full shared house. We can take your things to new halls, a different house in Liverpool, or back home to anywhere in the UK. If several housemates are moving on the same day, let us know, as it can be simpler to share one trip than book separately. Our student moves page explains how it works.

The start and end of term get busy, so book as early as you can once you know your dates. We recommend at least two days ahead, but short notice is often possible. Prices start from £50, and long distance moves start from £200. Send photos of your room and both postcodes on WhatsApp at 07552 999 177 and we will agree a clear price. If you are moving into the city centre, we cover that too.

Can you pack for us?

Yes, we offer full packing, where we pack the whole home, or partial packing for just the fragile or awkward things.

Full packing is useful if you are short on time or would rather not deal with boxes at all. We pack each room, label the boxes and load them in a sensible order, which makes unpacking much easier at the other end. Partial packing is a good middle ground: you pack books, clothes and everyday items, and we handle the things that break easily or are hard to wrap, like glassware, mirrors, pictures, lamps and televisions.

In Toxteth, where many homes are upper-floor flats with long staircases, well-packed boxes are also easier and safer to carry. Let us know which option you want when you ask for a quote, and roughly how many rooms need packing, so we can include it in the price. Your belongings are fully insured while they are in our care. For moves further afield, see our long distance removals, or for a flat see our flat removals page. Send photos on WhatsApp at 07552 999 177 for a clear price.

Can you collect something I have bought on Marketplace in Toxteth?

Yes, we pick up single items and Marketplace buys across L8 and drop them anywhere in Liverpool or further afield.

It might be a sofa from a flat on Princes Avenue, a table from a house off Lodge Lane, or a wardrobe you have bought from someone near the Dingle. We collect it, wrap it, load it safely and carry it into your home, rather than leaving it on the pavement. If it needs taking apart to get out of the seller’s place, we can do that and rebuild it at yours. Our Marketplace collection service has more detail.

To get a price, send us the listing or a photo of the item, plus both postcodes, on WhatsApp at 07552 999 177. Tell us if there are stairs at either end, and agree a collection time with the seller before we book you in. Prices start from £50, and we agree a clear price before you book. Because we are so close to L8, we can often collect at short notice. We also do pickups in nearby areas like Wavertree.

Are my things insured during the move?

Yes, your belongings are fully insured while they are in our care, from loading at your old home to unloading at the new one.

We also work hard to avoid damage in the first place. Furniture is wrapped and strapped in the van, big pieces are taken apart so they are not forced round tight landings or through narrow doors, and we load heavy items so they never sit on top of fragile ones. In Toxteth, where many moves involve long shared staircases in big Victorian houses, that care on the stairs matters as much as care in the van.

You can help by keeping valuables like jewellery, documents and cash with you, labelling boxes clearly, and pointing out anything delicate before we start. If you want the fragile things packed for you, we offer full or partial packing. Our terms and conditions set out the details of cover and any items we cannot carry. For anything else, message us on WhatsApp at 07552 999 177 or call 0151 272 3467. You can see all the jobs we cover on our man and van services page.

How much notice do you need for a Toxteth move?

We recommend booking two or more days ahead, but because we are so close to Toxteth, short notice is often possible.

Booking a few days early gives you the widest choice of times and lets us plan properly, especially for upper-floor flats or anything that needs packing. Weekends, the end of the month and the start and end of university terms are usually the busiest times in L8, so if your date is fixed, get in touch as soon as you know it. Smaller jobs, like a single item or a Marketplace pickup, can often be fitted in the same day or the next.

We are open Monday to Sunday, 8am to 9pm, and usually reply within the hour. To book, message us on WhatsApp at 07552 999 177 or call 0151 272 3467, with photos of what is moving and both postcodes. You can also use the quote form on this page, which opens WhatsApp with your details filled in. If your plans change after booking, our terms and conditions explain how cancellations work. For short hops to Edge Hill or nearby, we can usually move fast.
