Gateacre Moves, From the Village to the Estates
Gateacre is a conservation village at heart, with old sandstone buildings around Gateacre Brow and the green. Around that you have streets of semis and detached houses, plus estates heading towards Belle Vale and blocks of flats. Hilly roads and limited parking near the old village are the main things to plan for.
Gateacre is a short drive from our Smithdown Road base, out past Childwall, and it is one of the areas our man and van Liverpool team covers every week. We turn up on time, take apart anything that needs it, protect your furniture and rebuild it in the new place. Full or part packing is there if you want it.
- We plan van parking around the old village and Gateacre Brow

Questions People Ask
Do you cover all of Gateacre?
Yes, we cover every part of Gateacre in L25, from the old village to the newer estates around it.
That includes the conservation village around Gateacre Brow and the green, the streets of semis and detached houses heading up towards Childwall and Woolton, the estates running down to Belle Vale, and the blocks of flats in between. We also cover Hunts Cross and Netherley nearby, so a move from Gateacre to anywhere close by is a short local job.
Gateacre is a mix of old sandstone cottages, family homes and flats, and each comes with its own things to plan for, such as narrow stairs in older properties or limited parking near the village. We move all of them, along with single items and Marketplace pickups. The process is the same whatever the size of the job: send photos of what needs moving and both postcodes on WhatsApp, and we will agree a clear price with you before you book. If you want to check somewhere further out, our areas we cover page lists everywhere we work.
Is parking a problem around Gateacre Brow?
It can be, because the old village around Gateacre Brow sits on a slope and the streets are not wide, but we plan for it before the day.
Some of the older cottages have no drive and open straight onto the pavement, and parking near the green can fill up. When you ask for a quote, tell us the address and whether there is a drive, a space outside or anything awkward about access, such as steps, a narrow path or a steep approach. We will work out where to put the van beforehand so the move keeps moving. If you can, ask neighbours to leave a space free on the day or move your own car so there is room close to the door.
Away from the old village, most Gateacre streets of semis and detached houses have drives, which makes loading much easier. Either way, the price is agreed before you book, so access planning never turns into a surprise charge later. Our services page explains how each type of move works. If you are heading over to Woolton, which has similar hilly streets, we plan that end in the same way.
Can you move just a few items from a Gateacre house?
Yes, we regularly move just a few items, whether that is a single sofa, a couple of wardrobes or a small part-load of boxes.
Not every job is a full house move. People in Gateacre often need help taking furniture to a family member, moving a few pieces into storage, collecting something they have bought or clearing a spare room. These smaller jobs are quicker to arrange, and prices start from £50. Tell us what is going, where it is in the house, whether there are stairs at either end and both postcodes. If anything needs taking apart to get out of an older cottage, we will bring the tools.
For one or two pieces, our single item delivery is usually the best fit. If you have bought something online, our Marketplace collection service handles the pickup and drop-off, and we can usually arrange a time that suits the seller too. Send a photo of each item on WhatsApp and we will come back with a clear price before you book. We are open seven days, 8am to 9pm, so evening collections after work are often possible.
How far is Gateacre from your base?
Not far at all: Gateacre is a short drive from our base on Smithdown Road in Liverpool L7, out past Childwall.
Because we are in L25 regularly, we know the area well, including the hilly roads around the old village and the quieter streets towards Belle Vale and Hunts Cross. That means we can often fit jobs in at short notice, and there is no long run before we start, which keeps the day simple. We are open Monday to Sunday from 8am to 9pm, so early starts, evenings and weekends are all possible if you book ahead.
We work across the whole of south and east Liverpool, so moving to or from nearby areas such as Childwall or Broadgreen is a quick local job for us. We also move people from Gateacre to anywhere in the UK, and collect within about 100 miles of Liverpool. We recommend booking two or more days ahead, but if you need something sooner, send photos and both postcodes on WhatsApp and we will tell you straight away whether we can fit you in. You will always get a clear price agreed before you book.
Do you move flats in Gateacre?
Yes, we move flats as well as houses around Gateacre and Belle Vale, from studios to larger two- and three-bedroom flats.
Flat moves depend a lot on the building. Some blocks have a lift and parking right by the entrance, while others have several flights of stairs or a long walk from where the van can stop. When you ask for a quote, tell us which floor you are on, whether there is a lift, and how far the entrance is from the road. That lets us plan the carry, allow the right amount of time and give you an accurate price. We take beds and wardrobes apart if they will not fit down a stairwell in one piece, then rebuild them at your new place.
Our flat moves service covers the whole job, and we offer full or partial packing if you want help with boxes. If you are moving from a flat into a house in a neighbouring area such as Allerton, it is a short local run for us. Send photos of what is going and both postcodes on WhatsApp, and we will agree a clear price with you before you book.
Can you get big furniture out of the older cottages near Gateacre Brow?
Yes, we regularly get large furniture out of the older cottages near Gateacre Brow, taking it apart where needed and rebuilding it at your new place.
Older sandstone cottages often have narrow staircases, tight turns, low doorways and small hallways, so a wardrobe or bed that went in flat-packed years ago may not come out in one piece. We take beds, wardrobes and tables apart, bag and label the fixings so nothing goes missing, and wrap the pieces to protect them, and the cottage walls and doorframes, on the way out. If something truly cannot be taken apart, such as a large solid sofa, tell us its measurements and we will work out the best way to get it through.
Let us know about any big or awkward pieces when you ask for a quote, and send photos if you can, so we bring the right tools and allow enough time. Taking apart and rebuilding is part of our house removals service. If some of the old furniture is not coming with you, our furniture removal can take it away, though we only take furniture and household items, not general waste.
Can you help with packing?
Yes, we offer full or partial packing, so you can hand over the whole house or just the items you find hardest to pack.
Full packing means we pack everything for you, from the kitchen and books to clothes and ornaments, so it is all boxed and ready to load when the van arrives. Partial packing suits people who are happy to do the easy rooms themselves but want help with fragile and awkward items such as glasses, plates, mirrors, pictures and televisions. In an older Gateacre cottage with small rooms, having everything packed in advance also keeps stairs and hallways clear, which makes the carry quicker and safer.
Tell us which option you want when you ask for a quote, along with roughly how many rooms are involved, and we will include it in a clear price before you book. A few photos of each room on WhatsApp help us work out how much time to allow. Packing works with any of our moves, from flat moves to full family homes, and you can see everything else we offer on our services page. For students moving out of shared houses, our student moves can include packing too.
Are my belongings insured during the move?
Yes, your belongings are fully insured while they are in our care, from the moment we collect them to the moment we drop them off.
That applies whether we are moving a whole house in Gateacre, a flat near Belle Vale or a single item. Alongside the insurance, we do the practical things that stop damage happening in the first place: wrapping furniture, protecting corners on narrow cottage stairs and doorways, loading heavy items low in the van and strapping everything so it does not move on the hilly roads around the village. If you have anything especially valuable or fragile, such as antiques, artwork or a large television, tell us when you book so we can plan how to pack and carry it.
You can read how our cover and responsibilities work in our terms and conditions, which also cover cancellations and items we cannot carry. If you still have questions after reading them, call us on 0151 272 3467 or send a message on WhatsApp and we will talk you through it before you commit to anything. You can also reach us through our contact page if you would rather write your question down first.
How much does a Gateacre move cost?
Prices start from £50 for smaller jobs, and long distance moves start from £200, with a clear price agreed with you before you book.
The exact cost depends on a few things: how much you are moving, the distance between the two addresses, how many flights of stairs there are, whether there is a lift, how close the van can park, and whether you want packing or furniture taken apart and rebuilt. A single item from a Gateacre house to a nearby street will cost much less than a full move from a four-bedroom home, and an older cottage with narrow stairs may take longer than a semi with a drive.
The best way to get an accurate price is to send photos of what needs moving and both postcodes on WhatsApp at 07552 999 177. Tell us about access at both ends and your preferred date. We usually reply within the hour. For a family home, our house moves page explains what is included. If you are leaving Liverpool, take a look at our long distance removals for moves to anywhere in the UK.
How do I book and get a quote?
The quickest way to book is to send photos of what needs moving plus both postcodes on WhatsApp at 07552 999 177, or call us on 0151 272 3467.
You can also use the quote form on this page, which opens WhatsApp with your details already filled in, so you just add photos and press send. We usually reply within the hour and agree a clear price with you before you book. To make the price as accurate as possible, include the type of property, which floor you are on, whether there is a lift or drive, any large furniture that needs taking apart and the date you would like.
We recommend booking two or more days ahead, though short notice is often possible, and we work Monday to Sunday from 8am to 9pm. If you would rather get in touch another way, our contact page lists all the options. Moving across to the other side of south Liverpool? Our Wavertree man and van page has local details for that area too. Once the price is agreed, we confirm the date and time, and we will be in touch before the day if anything needs checking.
