FAQs

Questions People Ask

Do I need to be there when you collect?

No, as long as you’ve paid the seller and they know we’re coming, we can collect without you.

Plenty of buyers can’t get to the seller’s address, and that’s fine. Send us the seller’s address and a contact number, and let the seller know to expect us. We’ll arrange a time with them, load the item carefully and send you a photo when it’s in the van, so you can see what’s coming. Then we bring it to your home and carry it into the room you want it in.

It does help to sort a few things with the seller first. Agree what’s included, such as cushions, feet or shelves, and check whether the item needs taking apart to get it out. Ask about stairs at their end and where we can park. If you won’t be home for the delivery either, tell us who will be there to let us in. The same approach works for items from shops and warehouses, and our single item delivery covers those too. Prices start from £50, with a clear price agreed before you book.

Should I pay the seller before you collect?

Yes, sort payment directly with the seller before the collection, because we don’t handle payment between buyers and sellers.

Pay the seller the same way you normally would, and make sure they’ve confirmed it’s been received before we set off. That way, there’s no confusion on the doorstep and the seller is happy to hand the item over. If you’d planned to pay cash on collection, you’ll need to be there yourself or agree another way to pay with the seller.

Before you pay, check the listing carefully and ask the seller any questions about size, condition and what’s included. If you can, ask for extra photos or measurements, especially for sofas and wardrobes, so you know the item will fit through your door. Once it’s paid for, send us the listing link or a photo, the seller’s postcode and yours, and a contact number for the seller. You can read how we handle cancellations, damage and items we can’t carry in our terms and conditions. Prices start from £50, and you get a clear price agreed before you book.

Can you collect from outside Liverpool?

Yes, we collect from anywhere within around 100 miles of Liverpool, so a good deal further away doesn’t have to be a lost one.

That covers sellers across Merseyside and well beyond. Locally, we cover every Liverpool postcode, plus Sefton, Knowsley, the Wirral, St Helens and Halton, and you can see the full list on our areas we cover page. For anything further, send us the seller’s postcode and we’ll tell you if it’s within range and what it would cost.

Longer collections take more time on the road, so the price reflects the distance, but you’ll always get a clear price agreed before you book. If you’re also having something delivered from Liverpool to another part of the country, our long distance removals cover that, from £200. To book, send us the listing link or a photo, both postcodes, a contact number for the seller and details of any stairs at either end. Give us as much notice as you can for longer runs, because they take up more of the day. We usually reply within the hour, seven days a week.

Can you check the item before collecting?

We’ll send you a photo when we collect so you can see what’s going in the van, but questions about condition should be agreed with the seller beforehand.

We’re there to move the item safely, not to inspect it, so it’s important to sort out anything about condition, size or working order with the seller before you pay. Ask for extra photos, measurements and close-ups of any marks, and check whether everything is included, such as cushions, feet, shelves, cables or fittings.

For appliances such as fridge freezers or washing machines, ask the seller whether it’s been working recently and make sure it’s disconnected, emptied and drained before we arrive. For sofas and wardrobes, ask whether they come apart, and get the measurements so you can check they’ll fit through your door and up your stairs. On collection, we’ll photograph the item in the van and send it to you, so you have a record of what we picked up. If you have any questions before booking, ask us through our contact page, and we usually reply within the hour.

What details do you need to book a collection?

Send us the listing link or a photo of the item, the seller’s postcode and yours, a contact number for the seller, and whether there are stairs at either end.

The listing link is the most useful thing, because it usually shows the size and condition of the item. If you don’t have it, a few photos and rough measurements work just as well. The seller’s contact number lets us arrange a collection time directly with them, which saves you passing messages back and forth.

Tell us about access at both ends too. Which floor is the item on at the seller’s, and which floor is it going to at yours? Is there a lift? Will it need taking apart to get out? Is parking easy outside both addresses? If it’s going up to a top-floor flat, mention that, as it’s the same kind of carry we do every week on flat moves. Add the dates and times that suit you and anything the seller has asked for, such as a collection window. You can send all of this through the quote form, which opens WhatsApp ready to send. Prices start from £50.

What if the seller isn’t in when you arrive?

We arrange a time with the seller before we set off, so make sure they know we’re coming and have a contact number for us.

Most collections run smoothly because the time has been agreed in advance. Before we leave, we’ll confirm with the seller that they’re in and the item is ready. If they don’t answer or aren’t home when we arrive, we’ll try to contact them and let you know straight away, so you can chase them too.

To avoid problems, tell the seller the collection date and time as soon as it’s booked, and ask them to let you know if anything changes. Give us a reliable number for them, not just a Marketplace message thread. If plans change on their side, such as the seller needing a different day, tell us as soon as you can so we can rearrange before setting off. You can read how we handle changes and cancellations in our terms and conditions. We’re open seven days a week, 8am to 9pm, so there’s usually another slot that suits both you and the seller.

Can you take a sofa or wardrobe apart at the seller’s house?

Yes, where furniture comes apart, we can take it apart at the seller’s end to get it out and rebuild it at yours.

Wardrobes, bed frames, tables and many sofas can be taken apart, which makes them much easier to carry down stairs and through narrow doors without marking the seller’s walls or your own. We bring our own tools, and the screws and fittings are bagged and kept with the furniture so nothing goes missing on the way. At your end, we rebuild it in the room you want it in.

Ask the seller beforehand whether the item comes apart and whether they still have any fittings or instructions, especially for flat-pack furniture. Wardrobes should be emptied and drawers cleared before we arrive. When you ask for a quote, tell us the item needs taking apart, so we can allow the time. If you’re buying a new sofa and getting rid of the old one, we can take the old one away on the same trip through our furniture removal service, which covers furniture and household items, not general waste. Prices start from £50, with a clear price agreed before you book.

Can you carry the item upstairs when you deliver it?

Yes, we carry the item into the room you want it in, including upstairs.

We don’t leave it on the doorstep. Whether it’s a wardrobe going into a top-floor bedroom or a sofa going into a first-floor flat, we take it all the way and put it where you want it. Items are wrapped in blankets so they don’t mark the walls, doorframes or banisters, and where something comes apart, we take it apart to get it round tight turns and rebuild it in the room.

When you ask for a quote, tell us about stairs and lifts at your end: which floor, whether there’s a lift, and whether the stairs are narrow or have a tight turn. If the item is big, measure your doorways and stairwell and check them against the listing, because it’s better to know before you pay the seller. We deliver across Liverpool and Merseyside, from the south of the city to Bootle and beyond. If you’re buying from a shop rather than a seller, our single item delivery works the same way. Prices start from £50.

Is the item insured while you’re moving it?

Yes, your item is fully insured while it’s in our care, from the moment we load it at the seller’s to the moment it’s in place at yours.

Insurance is there as a backstop, but the main aim is to stop damage happening in the first place. Every item is wrapped in blankets and strapped in the van so it can’t shift. Larger pieces are taken apart where that helps them through doors, and everything is carried rather than dragged. We also send you a photo when the item is loaded, so you have a record of how it looked when we collected it.

The insurance covers the item while we’re moving it, not its condition before we arrived, so check that with the seller before you pay. Ask for photos of any marks and confirm that appliances have been working. When you ask for a quote, tell us if the item is fragile, very heavy or valuable, such as a glass cabinet or a large mirror, so we can plan the right protection. If you have any questions about cover, ask us through our contact page before you book. Prices start from £50, with a clear price agreed before you book.

Can you collect more than one item on the same trip?

Often, yes, and if you’ve bought from two sellers, send us both addresses and yours and we’ll tell you if we can do it in one run.

Combining collections usually works out cheaper than booking two separate jobs, especially if the sellers are in the same part of Merseyside or on the same route back to you. A sofa from one seller and a table from another, or a bed frame and a mattress bought separately, are common combinations. Whether we can do it in one trip depends on the distance between the sellers, the size of the items and the times the sellers are available.

When you ask for a quote, send the listing link or a photo for each item, all the postcodes, contact numbers for each seller and any stairs at either end. Try to agree collection times with both sellers on the same day. If it becomes more of a move than a pickup, such as furnishing a whole flat, our house moves service might be the better fit. We collect from anywhere within around 100 miles of Liverpool, including sellers in St Helens and further out. Prices start from £50.
