Questions People Ask
Where in the UK do you move to?
We move people from Liverpool to anywhere in the UK. Common runs include Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, London and Scotland, and the same team loads your things in Liverpool, drives them and unloads them at the other end.
Other routes we cover include Sheffield and the rest of Yorkshire, the Midlands, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Cardiff and North Wales. Whether you’re moving a full family home or a few boxes, the process is the same: send us both postcodes and photos of what’s going, and we’ll give you a clear price before you book. Long distance moves start from £200, and your belongings are fully insured while they’re in our care.
If you’re moving out of a house, our house moves page covers what’s included on the day. Students heading off to university or home for the summer can also look at our student moves. Message us on WhatsApp at 07552 999 177 and we usually reply within the hour.
Can you collect from outside Liverpool and bring it here?
Yes, we collect from anywhere within around 100 miles of Liverpool and can bring your belongings back here or take them on to another part of the UK. That’s useful if you’re moving to Liverpool for work or study, or collecting furniture from a relative’s house elsewhere.
Send us the collection postcode, the delivery postcode and photos of what’s coming. Access at the collection end matters as much as at yours, so mention stairs, lifts and where the van can park at both addresses. If your collection is further than around 100 miles from Liverpool, ask anyway and we’ll tell you whether we can help. Long distance jobs start from £200, and we agree a clear price before you book.
Moving into a Liverpool flat? Our flat moves page explains how we handle stairs and lifts at the delivery end. You can check the parts of the city and Merseyside we cover on our areas we cover page.
How is a long distance move priced?
A long distance move is priced on the distance, how much you’re moving and access at both ends. A few boxes and a bed going to Manchester costs far less than a full three-bed house going to London.
Things that affect the price include stairs or lifts at either end, how far the van can park from the door, whether furniture needs taking apart and rebuilding, and whether you’d like us to pack. Send us both postcodes and photos of each room or the main items, and we’ll agree a clear price before you book. Long distance moves start from £200, and the more detail you give us, the more accurate your quote will be.
If you’re only moving a couple of items, our single item delivery service may be the better fit. Our terms and conditions explain what happens if your date changes or you need to cancel, so it’s worth a read before you book.
Can it all be done in one day?
Most moves within mainland England and Wales are loaded, driven and unloaded in one day. Liverpool to Manchester is the most common run we do, often there and unloaded in the same morning, while London and the south take longer on the road.
How long the day takes depends on how much you’re moving, how many stairs there are at each end and traffic on the way. Moves to Scotland or further afield may need more planning, and we’ll tell you what to expect when we quote. It helps to have keys sorted at the new home in good time so we can unload as soon as we arrive, and to have everything packed before we get to you.
Full or partial packing is available if you’d like help getting ready. See our house removals page for how a typical day runs, or contact us with your dates and both postcodes.
How much does a long distance move cost?
Long distance moves start from £200, and the final price depends on the distance, how much you’re moving and access at both ends. We agree a clear price before you book, so you know the cost before the van sets off.
To get an accurate quote, send us both postcodes, photos of each room or the main pieces of furniture, and details of stairs, lifts and parking at both properties. If you need packing or furniture taking apart and rebuilding, mention it so it’s included. Flexible dates can help too, as weekends and the end of the month are the busiest times to move.
If you have furniture you won’t need at the new place, our furniture removal service can take it away rather than you moving it across the country. Call 0151 272 3467 or contact us for a quote, and we usually reply within the hour, 8am to 9pm, seven days a week.
Are my belongings insured on a long distance move?
Yes, your belongings are fully insured while they’re in our care, from loading in Liverpool to unloading at your new home. That covers the whole journey, however far you’re going.
On top of insurance, we take steps to stop damage happening in the first place. Furniture is wrapped and strapped in the van for the long haul, heavier items go in first and fragile boxes are kept where nothing can fall on them. You can help by packing breakables in strong boxes with plenty of padding and marking them clearly. Let us know about any high-value or delicate items when you ask for a quote so we can plan how to load them.
For full details on cover and how claims work, read our terms and conditions. The same cover applies across all our local and UK-wide services, from a single item to a full house move. If you have any questions about cover, ask us before you book and we’ll talk you through it.
Do you take furniture apart for a long distance move?
Yes, beds, wardrobes and tables are taken apart before loading and put back together at your new home. Everything is then wrapped and strapped for the journey so it arrives in the same condition it left.
Taking furniture apart makes it lighter to carry, safer in the van and easier to get through doorways and up stairs at the other end. We keep the fixings for each piece together so reassembly is straightforward. Empty drawers and wardrobes before the day, and tell us about any large or unusual pieces, such as a corner sofa or a large dining table, when you ask for a quote.
If you’d rather leave some pieces behind, we can take unwanted items away through our furniture removal service. Moving out of a flat with tight stairs? See our flat moves page for how we handle it. Taking apart and rebuilding furniture is included in the clear price we agree before you book.
Can you pack for me before a long distance move?
Yes, full and partial packing are available for long distance moves, so we can pack everything or just the parts you don’t have time for. Many people pack their clothes and personal items themselves and leave the kitchen, glassware and fragile pieces to us.
Mention packing when you ask for a quote and tell us roughly how many rooms need doing, so we can plan the time into the day. Good packing matters more on a long journey, as boxes travel further and spend longer in the van. Label every box with the room it’s going to at the new home so unloading is quick, and keep a bag with documents, chargers, medicines and keys with you rather than in the van.
You can see what else we offer on our services page, or check the areas we cover if you’re moving within Merseyside instead. Any packing is included in the clear price we agree before you book.
How far ahead should I book a long distance move?
We recommend booking at least two days ahead for a long distance move, and earlier if you’re moving at a weekend or at the end of the month. Those dates book up first, as lots of tenancies and house sales complete at the same time.
Short notice is often possible, so if your completion date has just been confirmed or a move has come up suddenly, message us anyway. Send both postcodes, photos and your preferred date to WhatsApp at 07552 999 177, or call 0151 272 3467. We usually reply within the hour and will tell you what we have. Booking early also gives you time to plan packing and parking at both ends.
Students moving at the end of term should look at our student moves page, as June and September are busy months. We work 8am to 9pm, seven days a week, which gives you plenty of options for a moving day.
Can you move just a few items a long way?
Yes, we can move just a few items a long way, such as a sofa, a bed, some boxes or a single piece of furniture going from Liverpool to another part of the UK. You don’t need a full house load to book a long distance job.
This is handy for students taking belongings home, people sending furniture to family, or anyone who has bought something from a seller in another city. Send us photos and both postcodes, and we’ll agree a clear price before you book. Long distance jobs start from £200, and the items are fully insured while they’re in our care. Furniture is wrapped and strapped so it travels safely, even on a long run.
If you’ve bought something second-hand from further afield, our Marketplace collections page explains how we pick up and deliver. For local single pieces, see our single item deliveries, which start from £50.
